FAQs

What is Eco Silver & Recycled Gold?

All of Emilia Naylor-Brown Ldn pieces are made using 100% recycled sterling silver or 100% recycled gold sourced from RJC Certified companies, for cast pieces as well as hand worked pieces.

What is Gold Vermeil?

Gold Vermeil is Sterling Silver that has been coated with 3 - 5 microns of 18k Gold Plate.

This means that it is a thick layer and lasts a lot longer than Gold Plating.

Enabling me to make high quality yet affordable Gold coloured pieces.

The gold vermeil is currently not made from recycled materials, however the sterling silver base is 100% recycled, and we will be working hard to keep up to date with the industry with sourcing recycled gold plating material when possible to do so.

How do I find out my Ring size?

If you already own a ring that is the perfect size for the finger you want a ring for then you can measure the inner diameter of the ring and email me your measurements.

Alternatively you can measure your ring size by getting a piece of string or cut a thin strip of paper and wrap it around the base of the appropriate finger, where the string/paper overlaps mark this point with a pen. With a ruler then measure the length starting from the end of the string/paper to the pen mark and write down the length in millimetres.

You can then email me your measurement when ordering the ring you want so that I can make it the perfect size to fit you.

Tips:

After sliding the string/paper on, make sure it can slide on and off fairly easily over the knuckle (this should feel a little squeeze over the knuckle but this means your ring won't fall off).

Also don't measure cold fingers. This is when fingers are their smallest so for the most accurate reading, measure your finger at the end of the day when the finger is the largest.

How do I look after my Jewellery?

To maintain the finish of your jewellery for as long as possible our recommendations for care are:

Remove your jewellery before washing your hands or using hand sanitiser. Avoid wearing your jewellery in the shower or when swimming because water and especially chlorine can affect the longevity of the Gold Vermeil and some finishes.

This applies more so for Rings as they suffer more wear and tear than other jewellery types.

Another tip to extend the longevity of your jewellery put your jewellery on last when getting ready, after lotions, make- up, perfume, & hairspray and this can affect the shine and finishes of your Gold Vermeil Jewellery.

To maintain/ restore the shine your jewellery we advise you to clean your jewellery using a polishing cloth to gently rub the surface of your jewellery pieces.

Or if you don't own one of those a good way to restore the shine of your jewellery is by filling up a bowl with warm soapy water (can just be washing up liquid) and leave your pieces to soak for a little while, then after lightly brush with a soft brush (can be a soft tooth brush) to remove the oxidised layer and after you will have restored the shine of your piece.

Avoid polishing agents or abrasive liquids on Gold Vermeil Jewellery as this will wear away the layers of Gold.

And to keep your jewellery clean when not being worn it is a great idea to keeping it in your
